About Us

Doggy Jitsu is a private dog training and rehabilitation service founded in Los Angeles in December of 2018 by owner/operator Daniel Robinson. The name Doggy Jitsu is a playful combination of “Doggy” an affectionate name for dogs, and “Jitsu” from the Japanese Jiu Jitsu, which is roughly translated to “soft science” or “soft technique”. Our goal is always to use the tools and techniques best suited to building a relationship based on trust and respect.

Our lead trainer Daniel Robinson has worked intensively with dogs of every breed and background for over 4 years. Daniel’s experience began with 2 years in rescue as a 4 time graduate of the comprehensive inmate/canine training program in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation known as Pawsitive Change. Daniel personally trained and rehabilitated rescue and shelter dogs, handicapped dogs and even dogs rescued from foreign meat markets, helping them all become Canine Good Citizen certified and find permanent homes. Working under some of the best trainers in the field – including Zach Skow of Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue, Matt Beisner of The Zen Dog, Lisa Porter of K9 Behavior College, Lia Marques of A Dog’s Life With Lia, Kim Erickson of Canine Republic, Samantha Johnson of Pack Life LA, and John Flores of IPittytheBull and Humble K9, Daniel has received a diverse and dynamic education in both dog training and dog psychology.

After working at one of Los Angeles’ premier boarding and training facilities, Daniel Robinson decided to put his skills to the test. He took his future in the dog training world into his own hands by launching Doggy Jitsu! Since our inception, we’ve worked with countless amazing clients, striving tirelessly to help heal, educate, build, grow, and evolve, and to empower dog parents and their dogs to create the loving, trusting, respectful relationships they’ve always envisioned.

Please join us on our journey to promulgate a spirit of balance and peace to your pack and beyond.

“Doggy Jitsu is wonderful. They boarded my 2 dogs while I was in Europe. One of my dogs is diabetic and needs insulin shots 2x a day with meals- he’s also a bit of a biter. Daniel provided excellent care despite the challenges.”
